How many colleges are offering free parking for the fall and/or provided refunds to staff for the month of April?

At Loyalist we are planning to maintain parking rates as it is a critical revenue source and we only gave students a refund for parking in April.

Parking at Georgian has been free since the College shut down in March.  For Fall Semester, however Campus Safety Services requested anyone having to come on to our campuses to obtain a free parking permit (staff/faculty hired pre-March 2020 were automatically enrolled).  This allows Security to determine what vehicles are on campus legitimately.  They do ticket (warning only) for any vehicles they find that didn’t register.

Lambton provided refunds following our closure, as well as free parking for the fall term. We are charging 50% for the winter term. The additional staff on campus will allow us to closely monitor any extra requirements related to snow removal.

For Durham College, parking has been free since March 2020 (refunds provided). We expect it to remain free until at least September 2021.

Sault College did not provide refunds to staff or students for April. We did make exceptions for students that were enrolled in apprenticeship programming cancelled during March and April.

There has been no charge to park for staff and students since we shut down in the spring and this will continue for the winter semester. With winter on us now we have taken the opportunity to close some of our parking lots to reduce costs with snow removal.
