      Hi Everyone,

I am so excited this is my first post on forum, I am looking forward to working with you all.

This topic has been raised by our Health programs who are utilizing a fair amount of PPE in their labs. Gowns, masks, etc. There was a small program run through a local environmental advocacy group but it has been over subscribed and it very costly.

We have reached out to local businesses in Thunder Bay but with no luck.
Just wondering if there are any one recycling PPE and process being used.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

      Cheers

Welcome Robin. I’m told Fanshawe hopes to have a pilot PPE recycling program starting soon. I’ve requested more details and will follow-up further when I do.

Follow-up: Currently, Fanshawe has just started GIC (Medical Disposal Circle) from Toronto [https://gicmd.com/] taking away all our nursing/dental PPE from the college to be recycled. Please reach out if you’re interested in more detail.

Hi Robin. Welcome!! At Mohawk we are currently piloting a project with a company called Terracycle. The concept is they provide their bins on campus and when full, pick them up and responsibly separate and recycle masks, shields etc. We have just given the approval to proceed so the bins are not in place yet but hopefully very soon.
