    Hi Nazanin,

We don’t have squat toilets at Humber College. However, I would recommend to connect with someone from ATS (Allied Technical Solutions). They are a very good resource for anything related to plumbing fixtures and their office is local (i.e. GTA). They are also used by a majority of the large consulting firms when selecting plumbing fixtures for their projects. Their contact information can be found here: https://www.atsspec.com/contact-us/

I also highly recommend creating your account and you will have access to their database and you can explore all the different types of plumbing fixtures available in North America and they also have references to the most recent plumbing codes. You can also create your own shop drawing or cut sheet set for plumbing fixtures.

I’ve used this for years, so if you need any help, please feel free to contact me at daniel.alonzo@humber.ca

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Mike,

We’ve had issues at Humber on some of our Code Blue Stations. Most of the time, it’s an issue with the stability of the network connection especially when they are installed outdoors. I think the hardware of the Code Blue Station itself is robust, but the traffic on the network in which the station is connected to may cause some issue. The data cable of most of our Code Blue Stations are Cat6 and if the distance run is close to the limit of 90 meters, it could cause some connection issues.

    I hope this helps.

Hi Arthur, at Humber College we encourage our academic folks to take on the responsibility of operation and maintenance of the infrastructure they build. For example, our Arboretum is maintained by the Landscaping Program at our College. We also have similar academic projects for solar panels and our academic teams manage their maintenance. At this stage, is it possible for your team to re-start the conversation with the academic team so they can take on the maintenance and operations of the finished infrastructures they built? I hope this helps.

    Hi Daryush,
At Humber College, we have the following plan in place.

    1. We are keeping the mask mandate until April 30th. Individuals will still have the choice to keep their masks after May 1st, but it will no longer be required.
    2. Physical distancing is no longer required in classrooms or labs.
    3. We still are implementing covid-19 assessments when entering the College, which requires individuals to be vaccinated. This may get revised based on recommendations from our Local Public Health.
    4. We no longer have capacity restrictions in classrooms or labs.

    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Daniel

At Humber College, we’ve re-utilized our own on-campus servers for saving our post-construction documents instead of saving them in the cloud. This means we are using the traditional windows explorer interface to save and access our as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and record files that are submitted by the contractor after project closeout. We’ve experienced many issues with saving very large files through the cloud and our IT department has advised us to use Humber owned servers for now until we find a more effective solution. This being said, our capital team has utilized both Humber owned servers and Microsoft OneDrive for on-going projects. Sharing files through OneDrive has proved to be an easy and effective way because you can control the individuals who have access to the folder. Plus sharing the folder is easy because you can share the folder link instead of sending files via email.

With the above being said, we use Archibus to re-create architectural floor plans. This also provides as an easy way to find and print floor layouts when needed.

    I hope this helps.

At Humber College North Campus, we currently have a bus terminal that serves multiple transportation authorities (i.e. TTC, Mississauga , Brampton, VIVA, and ZUM). We do not have any agreement with these transportation authorities because the bus terminal is owned and maintained by Humber College. However, we have direct communication with each authority should we need to close the terminal due to maintenance or construction.

I also like to share that Metrolinx is currently constructing an LRT station at the property line of Humber North Campus. For this project, we have an agreement with Metrolinx because we will be sharing a Traction Power Sub-Station (TPSS). A portion of the substation will be serving the infrastructure in one of our parking lots namely: parking gates, parking lights, A/V for signage, etc.

If you need more information, please feel free to contact Daniel Alonzo or Spencer Wood from Humber.

Humber College has not utilized portable recirculating HEPA filtration units, but we’ve allowed our college community to bring their own if they choose. We’ve been able to address any concerns pertaining to the relationship of Covid-19 transmission and HVAC operations by talking to one of the points below.

    1. Ensure that the HVAC equipment provides sufficient Supply Air and Outside Air to the spaces. Use ASHRAE 62.1 as a reference.
    2. Maintain space temperatures (21-23 deg.C) and humidity (30-50% RH) levels as much as possible.
    3. Change the minimum filtration level at RTUs and AHUs at MERV 13 minimum
    4. Continue all Preventative Maintenance work and show proof when asked upon.
    5. Continue all cleaning and disinfection procedures at a higher frequency.

Local recirculating HEPA filtration can definitely be a supplemental solution to a centralized HVAC system, but it has limitations. For one, replacing a dirty HEPA filter locally may require additional procedures and we argued that as long as we satisfy all the points above, there will be no need for a recirculating HEPA filter at the room level. I hope this helps.
